Reading, with texture.
Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen. Example only.
Words are where knowledge lives.
Much of what we know was first written down, and often first in English. Reading it in the original is the most direct way in. But English is not everyone's first language.
But a page can feel flat.
- Words that do not move.
- A dictionary that pulls you out.
- Time spent, little kept.
Not a page. A space.
Your phone is not just a box with a frame, and reading does not have to be still. Reader gives the words around you sound, light and life, so your senses, your thinking and the words meet.
Sound
聲音
Hear your book read aloud, one sentence at a time, and follow every word as it is spoken.
Water and glass
A drop of glass flows from word to word as they are read, so your eyes always know where you are.
Words that answer
Tap any word. Reader reads the whole sentence and tells you what the word means right there, in Traditional Chinese, with its part of speech. Phrases like "wake up" too.
Words that stay
Words you look up are saved, with their meaning above them in the book. Open one later and Reader takes you back to where you met it.
Time well spent.
- 01Love reading again.
- 02Keep the words you meet.
- 03Open harder books.
- 04Meet the ideas, not just the words.
